Coverage News on 66 2/3 and Medical Food

    18 June, 2014

    blind-justice-clip-art

    HB 271

In addition to several changes to sanctions against employers who fail to secure coverage, all references to 66 2/3 percent (i.e., from TPD to death and all points in between) are now “66.67 percent.” Not much to worry about except PICA, but as it applies only to new claims. Carriers should adjust easily.

    CS/HB 785

Amends 440.13 to preclude “oral vitamins, nutrient preparations, or dietary supplements.” No “medical food” unless specific approval by E/C in its “sole discretion.” Hope that doesn’t apply to IVs!

Note: These will take effect July 1st.
