As in the past, MKRS Law is proud to have been requested to participate in the educational program. Providing the most recent trends in appellate decisions help best when this question can be answered “How does it help me?” This presentation will focus on not just a case law update, but a proposed immediate plan of action, to minimize litigation, and claim exposure, while reducing the length of time before a claim can be closed. The panel will discuss proven techniques learned from the “School of hard knocks” by some of the state’s largest TPA’s and Carriers. Finally, in what can only be called a special edition, we will analyze the two biggest cases of the year — Westphal and Castellanos–two cases of major impact to every workers’ compensation adjuster.

Each of us has had the unforgettable case or two, but our “top-of-their-game” panelists have culled from their own experiences cases that will curl your toes, split your sides and for some, cause you to send children out of the room. Of course, no injury is funny per se, but no industry is without a little “gallows humor”–and its no “accident” each of our panelists knows how to spin a yarn! So join our panelists as they reveal these human comedy/tragedies–along with the whole point of this exercise of course: the potent learning opportunities each presents, from claims handling to appeals, with universally applicable “ethical” considerations made along the way.
