The 69th Annual Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference is less than a month away!

RSVP for our Monday Night After Hours Party Here
RSVP for our Tuesday Night Suite Party Here
As in the past, MKRS Law is proud to have been requested to participate in the educational program.  The firm’s senior partners will be participating in seminars throughout the conference, the details for which are listed below. Information regarding the firm will be displayed at our front and center Booth # 703 in the front of the convention exhibit hall.  Our booth provides an opportunity to meet with MKRS Law attorneys at anytime during the convention.  As has been our tradition, we will be hosting our infamous parties both Monday and Tuesday nights.
If you attended last year, you probably remember our presence throughout the elevator lobby with a creative, yet humorous take on the legal industry.
Be sure to keep an eye out for what we have in store this year. We look forward to seeing you in Orlando!

    Five-Hour Law and Ethics Update
    Tuesday, August 19th, 10:00AM – 4:15 PM
    Palms Royal Ballroom
New for 2014- a one-stop opportunity to concurrently sharpen the tools in the claims defense tool box, while meeting new State Requirements that Adjuster CEUs be procured through a 5-Hour Law and Ethics Update. Program One of the “Breakout For Adjusters,” which is completely dedicated to meeting these requirements, promises not only to satisfy this difficult-to-procure accreditation requirement, but does so in a fashion that has a focus on providing those who attend a better understanding of the industry to which we are professionally and ethically committed, while educating on the most cutting-edge strategy for claims handling…from accident through resolution.Insurance Law/Case Law Update and Special Case Law Update of Supreme Court Cases: Westphal and Castellanos–Tuesday, August 19th, 2:15 – 4:15 PM

Providing the most recent trends in appellate decisions help best when this question can be answered “How does it help me?” This presentation will focus on not just a case law update, but a proposed immediate plan of action, to minimize litigation, and claim exposure, while reducing the length of time before a claim can be closed. The panel will discuss proven techniques learned from the “School of hard knocks” by some of the state’s largest TPA’s and Carriers. Finally, in what can only be called a special edition, we will analyze the two biggest cases of the year — Westphal and Castellanos–two cases of major impact to every workers’ compensation adjuster.

MY CASE IS FUNNIER THAN YOUR CASE

    Tuesday, August 19th, 1:00 – 2:00 PM
Grand Ballroom 7ACall it “war stories” from the generals, with a twist! Each of us has had the unforgettable case or two, but our “top-of-their-game” panelists have culled from their own experiences cases that will curl your toes, split your sides and for some, cause you to send children out of the room. Of course, no injury is funny per se, but no industry is without a little “gallows humor”–and its no “accident” each of our panelists knows how to spin a yarn! So join our panelists as they reveal these human comedy/tragedies–along with the whole point of this exercise of course: the potent learning opportunities each presents, from claims handling to appeals, with universally applicable “ethical” considerations made along the way.
